The wide-angle
focal lengths of the LEICA M-system have traditionally enjoyed
a reputation as being attractive. With the introduction of new
lenses such as the LEICA ELMARIT-M 21mm f/2.8 ASPH. and the LEICA
ELMARIT-M 24mm f/2.8 ASPH., this trend has been reinforced. As
the camera’s
viewfinder is out of the question for these focal lengths, the
framing must be carried out using a separate additional viewfinder.
In the case of the LEICA M6 0.85 models with their around 20
% more powerful viewfinder magnification, this also applies to
the 28mm lenses in the M system. To date, separate mirrored viewfinders
have been required for each of the three focal lengths 21, 24
and 28mm.
The new LEICA
VIEWFINDER for 21/24/28mm lenses offers you the opportunity to
adjust the angle of view for the three most attractive wide-angle
focal lengths. They can easily be selected using the knurled
ring, which you can feel and hear as it engages. The viewfinder’s
optical system consists of 5 lenses, of which two are shifted
to change the framing. The optical performance meets the high
standard of the LEICA M6 viewfinder.
Despite the
fact that it can be used with eyeglasses (eye relief 15mm to the
last lens surface), an extraordinarily high magnification with
good detail recognition was achieved. The magnification is 0.42
x at 21mm, 0.48 x at 24mm, and 0.56 x at 28mm. If the viewfinder
is to be used without eyeglasses, the Leica M camera’s
corrective lenses can be screwed on to correct eye defects. The
eyepiece has a rubber coating as a protection for eyeglasses. |
