RainX will not work on plastic but it will work on glass fairly well. I have not tried this but many people swear by liquid Pledge. Apprently it has some silicones that are fairly hydrophobic. Try it on some samples first.
I am working on a hydrophobic coating for plastic, but it is hard to get anything to adhere especially if the plastic is coated. If you have plain plastic covers, I may be able to help. I have some very effective chemicals that bond well to plain plastic. email me if your application fits.
You don't want anything hydrophilic as that will just try to spread the water and make a mess.
