: : : How long will parts for the Nikonos,II, III, and V be around for before These cameras become paper weights.

: : Although there may be some exceptions, Nikonos II & III parts are no longer available. You can try calling around to an Authorized Nikonos Service Center to see if they can help you.

: : As for Nikonos V's, we expect parts and service to be available for approx. 10 years. Although there are no guarantees, there are a LOT of Nikonos V's out there, so the market for parts and service should remain strong for quite some time.

: Thanks Dennis for the response. How long will film be available, Kodak is not doing well - they have quit R and D on film, and will cut many jobs in 2006.

: Thanks,

Andries:

First, the qualifier is that I do not deal with film purchasing or sales directly, and so, do not know anything really.

However, I BELIEVE Kodak (and Fuji) will have to offer some 35mm/medium format/large format films for artists and professionals who will want to continue working with film. This will most likely be a small selection of professional b&w and color films, since the consumer 35mm film market is already about dead...hence Kodak's cutting of consumer film production, and eliminating 35mm camera production.
