Hey, as long as the lens diameter isn't too big for the gear/port, and the lens doesn't hit the front of the port at it's longest extension, why not try it??
Remember however, that you must add a +4 close up diopter to the front of the lens for it to focus. And if the lens is too long and you do scratch the port, it's yours for keeps.
