: I recently inherited a Nikonos II, shot a roll of film, and now can't figure out out to rewind the film before removing it. Can someone help me out here. Thanks.

AJ:

First, set the shutter speed dial to "R". Then, lift the crank on the rewind knob and pull the knob up while turning it to the right and left until it fully extends, engages the rewind shaft, and can not be pushed down. In this position turn the crank in a clockwise direction (direction of arrow), rewinding the film. Rewind until a click-stop resistance is felt. The film is now rewound. Then you extract the body from the outer housing (after removing your lens), and take out the rewound film cartridge. Turn the rewind crank/knob counter-clockwise until it returns to it's depressed position. The end of the crank is positioned towards the lens. After you have loaded a new roll of film, remember to reset your shutter speed.
