Another Nikonos II flash question

I just bought a Nik II with the original bulb flash. Now I would like to get an electronic flash instead.

I understand that I can have the sync port on the camera converted to a NikIII sync or connect it via #S19100 Sea & Sea SeaLoc Adapter.

Converting is apparently not done in Switzerland, so I'll go for the Sealoc Adapter. But: Which strobes work with that adapter? Only Sea & Sea YS-50MS ?

And: Is it very un-advisable or even impossible to connect the old (bulb flash) cable to the sync cord of a modern strobe (by opening the cables, connecting and sealing them again)?
