The LX850 mount, constructed of machined stainless steel and aircraft grade aluminum is a rock solid platform for the most demanding applications, with a 90 pound payload capacity and pointing accuracy as good as one arcminute. Includes StarLock- the revolutionary new technology that makes target acquisition on your imaging sensor and accurate guiding during exposures completely automatic. With Meade's exclusive LightSwitch technology at its core, StarLock uses an 80mm f/5 optic and two camera sensor system to provide computer assisted polar alignment using the drift method. Once aligned the StarLock is guiding the mount in real time, and even automatically programs periodic error correction, achieving a guiding accuracy of up to 1 arcsecond in good seeing and with the capability of guiding on stars as faint as 11th magnitude.

Overview
The LX200-ACF 14"/356mm Catadioptric Telescope Kit from Meade brings to market a sophisticated catadioptric optical design favored by research facilities worldwide. Most professional applications are either this style of telescope or gargantuan apochromatic refractors. Meade's 14" LX200-ACF with UHTC multicoatings is a serious deep space instrument, with more than 3x the light gathering of common 8" catadioptrics. In order to truly take advantage of its outrageous capacity, it requires either the blessing of night skies unpolluted by artificial light or a pair of dedicated observers willing to move this large and heavy scope to where such darkness exists.
Although this premium 14" catadioptric scope's robust twin-fork altazimuth mount is meant for delightful observing first and foremost, it is easily adapted to extended astrophotography by using either Meade's Deep Sky Imager (which eliminates field rotation via software), Field De-Rotator, or #07008 Equatorial Wedge. Power is supplied by 8 "C" batteries, but via optional accessories you can also adapt to an AC wall unit or a vehicle's cigarette lighter (compatible with a Celestron Power Tank).
For 2009, Meade has refined the delivery of the LX200-ACF models to meet the demands of the marketplace. They now no longer includes the #07080 electric focuser as standard equipment, and use a Series 4000 Super Plössl eyepiece instead of the Series 5000 version.

This 12" LX200-ACF has 12” diameter f/10 ACF optics (focal length 3048mm) and Ultra-High Transmission Coatings (UHTC) for maximum image brightness and contrast. Features the advanced LX200 AutoStar II computer system with 145,000 object library, multiple guided tours, High Precision Pointing capability with sub arc-minute pointing accuracy, and Meade SmartDrive with Permanent Periodic Error Correction.
Precise and quick star alignment is done near effortlessly with Meade's level north technology alignment system incorporating a 16 channel GPS receiver. The Autostar II is flash-updatable via free downloads at Meade.com (optional cable required). The drive base of the telescope has multiple input and output ports including an RS-232 PC interface and jacks for a (user supplied) CCD Autoguider and illuminated reticle.
Mechanically loaded as well all LX200 models feature a primary mirror locking mechanism, which effectively prevents movement of the primary mirror during long exposure astrophotography or observing. Turn the lock knob located just above the telescopes main focus knob and the progressive-tension primary lock completely cancels any residual image shift due to mirror movement during visual, photographic, or imaging applications.
All LX200-ACF models feature the DC-servo driven super heavy duty double fork mount, the strongest and most rigid mount in its class. Fast slew speeds are from 1 to 8 degrees per second, and can be user selected at .1 degree per second increments, while fine slewing and photographic guiding speeds can be adjusted from .01x to 1x sidereal in one one-hundredth increments. The mount and all electronics are internally powered by 8 (user supplied) C-cell batteries which will typically operate the telescope for around 20 hours (optional Meade Universal AC adapter also available). The mount additionally has mechanical locks and slow motion manual controls in both axis if for some reason you found yourself without power.
The 12" LX200-ACF comes fully equipped with 1.25" diagonal prism, Series 4000 26mm Plössl eyepiece, 8x50 viewfinder with quick release bracket and Meade AutoStar® Suite Astronomer Edition Software for PC. Scope weight is 75 pounds.

This pier is a full 10" diameter and features 1/2" wall thickness for rock solid performance.
Ideal for smaller domes or other observatories where there is a shortage of elbow room and an equatorial pier would require too much space. Can be utilized in an observatory dome as small as 2 meters (7') in diameter. The alt-az configuration also results in a easily accessible and convenient eyepiece orientation which changes less with telescope position than on an equatorially mounted scope.
