We will be going behind the scenes at Arlington Park Race Track to catch the action on the back track during early morning workouts.
You will get to see and photograph the horses while they train, walk the back barns and see the cool downs and bathing of the horses.
Even the press photographers aren't given this much access to the whole world of Horse Racing!
After the class has concluded, you are welcome to spend the day at the track and put your new skills to the test! There are some special races planned on this day with their Hansin Cup!
Bring your own camera and lens selection, no flash photography will be allowed.

Character Studies, Live demonstrations of lighting and posing! Join Michael Barton on a journey through the dynamic study of character and studio portraiture. During this demonstration based workshop you will learn to create elegant and emotional images with studio lighting and thoughtful posing. This class will take you through a variety of subjects, lighting styles and techniques. See the world with new eyes by unlocking a new vision in your craft while taking your work to a whole new level. Some background in studio photography is recommended. About Michael Barton Michael Barton is an international award winning master photographer and Fellow of the American a Society of Photographers. In 2012, Barton was the recipient of the PPA Grand Imaging Award, chosen from a pool of over 7000 entries. Being a lifelong student of the humanities, Barton received a Master of Music degree from the University of North Texas in 2000 and has studied music for over 3 decades. Barton’s character studies, children’s portraits, still life, street photography and landscapes have been featured in collections throughout the United States. His growing collection of mixed media pieces and commissions have made an impact on how his audiences views the visual arts. Having taught a diverse range of topics including music, photographic technique, photographic software, color management, workflow and astronomy, Barton is able to approach education from many different angles. Bringing people together while forming personal relationships is at the core of what drives Barton in everything aspect of his teaching.
